Rafting advice

Hello! I will be in GNP with my boyfriend in about a week and a half, and I’m considering getting us reservations to go rafting, possibly with Glacier Raft Company or anywhere that has availability. I have never been whitewater rafting before, but my boyfriend has gone once on some pretty large rapids. I can doggy paddle in the water but otherwise I’m not much of a skilled swimmer. I was debating between a scenic float or doing the white water since it looks like it’s mostly class II-III rapids. How suitable is the white water rafting for someone like me who has never done it before and who has limited swimming skills? I’m not a crazy adventurous person, but I do like a little, and I’m wondering if the scenic float wouldn’t be exciting enough for us. Also, it’ll just be the two of us; would the rafting company find other people for us to raft with so we can have a full raft? Thanks!!

One night at Lake McDonald Lodge

Hello! My boyfriend and I will be going to Glacier for the first time in a couple weeks. I found an unexpected opportunity yesterday to book one night at the Lake McDonald Lodge for the first night we are there. I did not do any planning to be staying at the lodge because I know they book up over a year in advance, so this was definitely a nice surprise. My question is—how can we make the most of our one night at this lodge? What do you recommend to do once we get checked in that afternoon and what do you recommend to do the following day? For context, we will be on the west side for 3 nights total before heading to the east for 4 nights, and this is just for our first night there. We are anticipating arriving in the early afternoon. All insight/recommendations are welcome! Thank you!

Transportation

Hello, all! My boyfriend and I will be arriving in Sandpoint on 7/7 via Amtrak, and we are planning to get a rental car from Enterprise once it opens at 8am. We don’t have a hotel booked from between when the train arrives around 2am and when we’re supposed to get our rental car. Are there any places that are open 24 hours where we could go to pass that time once we arrive? Would we have to walk there or are there any taxis or Uber or anything? Looking for any insights/recommendations. Thank you!!
