VW T7 California Beach - too heavy, cancelled order by VW
Ordered a new VW T7 California Beach in Switzerland (6 seats, tow hitch, awning, spare wheel, diesel). Dealer configured and confirmed everything together with us, contract signed, deposit paid.
Now, 2 weeks later, dealer forwards an email from AMAG (CH VW importer) saying the vehicle is “too heavy” and some options must be removed. No warning during configuration, no visible payload limits in the configurator, no apology, no real explanation.
Honestly concerning:
- How can VW accept configurations that later turn out impossible?
- Is the T7 California really suitable as a family/camping vehicle if basic travel options + 6 seats already exceed limits?
- How are customers supposed to know legal payload limits if even official dealers don’t?
Anyone else experiencing payload/configuration chaos with the new T7 California?
