Just wanted to share a quick experience from today at Paris Orly Airport in case it helps anyone traveling with film.

I had a few rolls of Kodak Portra 800 with me and didn’t want them going through the CTSCAN. When I got to security, I politely asked if it was possible to avoid putting them through the scanner.

Honestly, I was expecting a bit of pushback, but they immediately understood what I was talking about. The staff seemed totally aware that film especially higher ISO like Portra 800 can be sensitive to those scanners.

I followed the usual advice I’d seen here: kept everything in a clear ziplock so it was easy to inspect.

The security agent took the bag, stepped aside for a moment, and checked the rolls with a small handheld device (looked like it was just testing for substances).

A minute later, he handed everything back no scan, no hassle, no attitude.

Overall, super smooth experience. At least at Orly, they seem well-informed and used to these requests. Definitely recommend just asking politely and being prepared it worked perfectly for me 👍
