From a Japanese news stream that FF11 had. The game is currently celebrating its 24th anniversary, and one of the changes they're making is updating the free trial. Currently the trial has a 14 day time limit and caps at level 50; in an upcoming update, it will have no time limit and a level cap of 75. It sounds like you're still limited to the base game with no expansions, however. I don't think there's a date for this change yet.

Personally the short trial is a big reason I haven't gotten into 11 yet (that and no shared or discounted sub for playing both 11 and 14), so I'm looking forward to trying it out once they implement this.
