My magic system

So I recently started a project and I was working on my magic system! What does the Council of World Builders think?

Basic Laws: Mana is an energy and therefore follows the laws of conservation. Mana is a wave and propagates like one. Mana is created through photosynthesis by plants, and then fed into the leyline system.

Mana, the Maggel, Manafer, and the Manapothon

the Mana system's cycle starts from the Maggel. The Maggel is an organ located between the lungs, and energises Manafer. The Maggel, through leyline radiation (see paragraph 4), absorbs mana like how our skin absorbs vitamin D from the Uv rays of the sun. Manafer is a type of charged particle that carries said mana to the velum (see the next paragraph). Manafer is also a substitute for fat in terms of energy. The Manapothons stores charged Manafer, and they are located near the axillary, inguinal and cervical areas of the body, allowing for near instant casting and spell preloading.

The Velum

The Velum is a reactive tissue layer located between the epidermis and dermis. Manafer is secreted from the RBCs and reacts with the velum to release the mana. This is the process of mana expulsion. The velum is a uniform layer all throughout the body, but performs better where nerve endings are.

Encoding the Mana & Visualisation (Frieren ref)

The brain visualises the spell. Through the nervous system, the intent is sent to the Maggel. The Maggel then finds a pathway to turn that intent into action. If a pathway is not found, then the spell has failed. However, if the pathway is found, Manafer is then released from the Maggel into the bloodstream, to be sent to the velum. The encoded mana is then released as the visualised spell.

Leylines (cliché)

Leylines are roots that run across the world like a colossal spider's web meets mycelium. The roots are sturdy enough to make the world a tad bit less dense and more porous than Earth. The leylines radiate mana (like IR) and the Maggel absorbs it. The leylines gain mana through numerous means:

  • The decomposition of organic beings with mana
  • Photosynthesis
  • The release of mana by mages Leylines generally uniform but cluster together enough for regional hotspots to form.

races

the world im working on has all the anime cliché fantasy races, so... Elves- high mana aptitude Demons- high mana aptitude Draaggendziejent (dragon sapient)- high mana aptitude Bistbaen (beast man)- variable mana aptitude goblins- low mana aptitude Humans- variable mana aptitude Dark Elves- high mana aptitude Dwarves- medium mana aptitude Orcs- low mana aptitude

souls, enchanting, and that one song that goes "I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole"

the soul is a construct of the mind (buzzword buzzword) located in the maggel. as the soul carries the intent of the user, when the user dies, their soul might persist as one that has unfulfilled desired (under the right conditions). these are called spirit orbs.

enchanting

enchanting works by splitting the soul of the enchanter, and sacrifices the enchanter's lifespan and chance to get into heaven (lol) for more power. if the enchanter dies their soul is still in the object.

spell mediums

when casting a spell, the mana needs to pool somewhere that's not the velum, so they invented staffs, wands, grimoires, tomes, magic circles.... staffs and wands, through the degradation of magic crystals, amplify the spell casted by the user grimoires and tomes do the encoding for the user. magic circles do EVERYTHING for the user.

misc

mana exhaustion

when a mage runs out of mana, they essentially have to support more organs with less energy and thus could lead to the degradation of the maggel, manapothon and/or the velum

puberty but for mages

during the periods between at the ages of 10-16 to 16-20, everyone undergoes what basically is puberty but magic, where mana efficiency, aptitude and capacity shoots up rapidly until it plateaus later on.

noise mana cancellation

since mana is a wave, you can use counter spells to counter the mana.

Healing

when casting a healing spell, the maggel is stimulated to request the brain to heal the wounds rapidly, while inputing mana

the holy bloodline

some random group of descendant of the goddess that have elevated mana aptitude, efficiency and capacity

final stuff

I lowk don't know what I should improve upon, cuz I'm very narrow minded, so I wouldn't know
