Can I get a partial refund of rent due to agreement for early end of tenancy?

Recently we left a rented property (England) as we bought our first house. We were on a rolling monthly tenancy. Our rental period ran from the 5th to the 5th, but we got agreement from the landlord/agent to end our tenancy on the 30th. However, i forgot to cancel our final monthly rent scheduled payment and thus we paid the full amount. I would now like to request a partial refund for the days after our tenancy ended, but i want to be sure of where we stand first.
I understand that ordinarily we would be responsible for the whole monthly period, but since we got agreement for an early end I would have thought that we should only pay a pro-rata amount. In the confirmation of notice letter from the letting agent there is no discussion of the final rent, it only says 'we can confim that your end will be the 30th'.
