Basics

So we get our boy in a little over a weeks time.

I got an XL crate from pets at home (not to lock in but to be used to and have a safe space where we don't touch him)

Strong chew toys and puppy start up chews

Halti harness and lead (one where you clip to front and back)

Car seat and leads for this

Slow feeder bowl

Food we will get with the breeder as he's going on raw (the breeder is incredible)

Puppy pads for the random accident

A long recall lead (not the retractable ones)

A canopy bed for outside lol

GPS tags and scan tag with our info just Incase

A lick bowl that is stimulus the one with the ball in the middle

Crate fan as well as a blanket that covers the crate so it's like a den

There's probs a couple of bits I'm missing, but I was wondering if there is anything you guys would suggest?

We are traveling a long way and this could be a good 7 hour drive for him, (with stops of course)

Any insight and tips would be great, I've had big breeds before (Mals, GSD, Great dane) partner has had working dog breeds as well as wolfhounds this is our first puppy together outside of family raised dogs separately

I have got puppy training classes booked for 8 weeks time although I will be training him at home right away, we plan to take him to dog social towns where we know a lot of friendly pups walk around in and out of shops also. Just want to do this pup right.

We also have 3 cats, all docile as anything, they have climbing shelves and the stairs will be stair gated halfway up so they have an escape run if needs be. So any cats with Akita advice too please.

We do also have a 5 year old but we are lucky they are very switched in when it comes to animals and never approaches and waits to be approached even with the cats, they are also aware that if pup goes to crate it's no touch. So I'm not too worried, they will be heavily involved with training and feeding too

I sound like a novice but I've been so used to the kitties that I don't want to treat him like a cat lmao.

Thank you so much in advance!

Food

So now I have the name down

Dinner ideas, we want to go as naturally as possible, what biscuits are good ? We are based in the UK so anywhere from jollys, pets at home ect

I have heard they love sweet potato, rice, lamb ect but could I have some examples of how you guys make the meals and what to put in ?

Also home made treats ? I'm looking at a lick bowl thing to keep him mentally stimulated and I heard you can put yoghurt into it ?

Any advice, meal ideas or shopping lists will be super helpful, even what vitamins/oils also

Name for a boy

So we are getting a grey boy, dark face white socks. Little white line on one side of his chin going down

I adore the names Ghost, Mochi & Kaiju

Swaying more to Ghost tbh

I'm very alternative in style, and kinda wanted a name that would fit within that style also, Mochi is also adorable to me, I feel like a 1/2 syllable name would be good, not too hard to pronounce. Can anyone run some ideas :)
