Pain nearly a decade after cervical hernia repair surgery?
Hi everyone,
Nine years ago, I underwent a closed/mesh hernia repair procedure in the cervical region(neck); however, I do not recall the exact position.
The first year was awful, but after that, I barely had any pain for years. It started hurting after I gained like 30 kgs in a year, but it was still manageable.
So, fast forward to now, I've been having this uncomfortable pain right where the mesh is or where I had surgery. The pain is always there but gets worse, like this awful pain with a sick feeling like I'm about to throw up when I look up or turn my head to that side.
Today it is the worst, I can't even lie on my bed without hurting. But it isn't so bad that I should go to the ER, it is bearable.
I'm a game developer, so I'm on my computer all day with my arms on the table. That position kinda hurts too. Other than that, I haven't done anything else to make it worse, maybe just lying on that side's elbow for long periods.
The biggest problem for me is that I have claustrophobia so it is extremely horrible for me to go into mri, I don't wanna get anesthesia again for this...
Has anyone else here had a cervical hernia repair surgery and has mesh? If so, did you start to feel pain all of a sudden after years? Or have you been hurting since the surgery for a long time?
