Class schedule + other queries
Hi I am an incoming fresher as snu, I'll be joining the Btech Chemical Engineering program. I have a few doubts about academics and the university in general; any help from seniors would be greatly appreciated:
What is the schedule like, I know it will differ semester to semester, but roughly how many hours a day will be allotted to classes?
How are the classes, do they promote rote style learning, application of concepts or a mix and match. Ik the professors are all well qualified in their fields but how good are they at passing on that knowledge to students?
How approachable are the faculty, both for academic advice but also for advice on research opportunities/internships etc.
As someone that's coming from an A level background, what would be some differences in teaching styles that I should expect, moreover, if I was not a JEE aspirant am I going to struggle with academics at the uni, or are the classes structured in a way that would prepare you regardless of your background education?
Is the gym on campus free to use? what are the timings for the gym?
Is there a library/common study area where students can revise and study in between classes or are the dorm room desks the only place available for that?
Can a senior please mention some of the academic clubs in the uni (ik there's the H2O society and also a student led club for helping others with their studies, but what else?)
