Internal process pain?
Hi, I’m curious how normal this is
Every time there is an internal process at my company, it seems to run much slower than an external hire.
Some examples:
- Req posted internally, they’ve selected a candidate, last minute someone from higher up decides they need to run external interviews, then headcount is frozen, leading what should be 1 month process to 2-3 months for internal candidate (I’ve seen this multiple times)
- Candidate identified internally, but everyone and their mom tries to impede on the process, their managers trying to stop the process
For me, there has been a 1-months wait on if I will be getting a promotion OR being transferred to another business unit due to funding, if transferred they might change my role, but they can’t tell me any more details, I have to wait one more month.
In the meantime I’m almost closing in on a 12 month contract offer for exactly what I’d like to do, it just sucks because I don‘t know if I’m ready to leave stability for a contract. But the opportunity itself is very special. Launching a huge product. Otherwise I haven’t had much luck on the job market.
Just curious how normal this is, and what would you do in my shoes?
