2nd surgery cancelled

Pretty much what the title says ... I'm so exhausted of the US medical system. First hysterectomy got cancelled before I made it to the pre-op check. This time it was cancelled 17 hours before surgery. All because of insurance both times of course. Still going to fight for it, but holy fuck is this frustrating, and they aren't even trying to hide the transphobia behind their "reasoning".

Words of comfort or anyone wanting to rant are very welcome here.

Hospital saying my approval of financial aid from 4 months ago was a mistake

Pretty much the title but some more details... About three months ago I realized it was taking longer than normal for the bills to be covered by the financial assistance. So I called the department. I was told I have full coverage and it may take 30-45 days for the bills to clear. 45 days later I call again, am told the same thing and asked if I checked on this already. So bills pile up, I get notifications I'll be sent to collections soon, am still told to wait another 30-45 days from my last call with them.

This morning I got a call from the hospital saying that the letter I received months ago was incorrect, and they actually need more information than they originally got and approved my application with. When I check my account, the bills are gone, sent to collections or covered by the assistance they told me I no longer have? No clue which.

TLDR: Can they make me pay for the bills during the months I thought I had coverage because they told me I have coverage?
