My driving instructor make me hold the bottom of the steering wheel.

Abit of backstory Ive had lessons and even took a test before covid and then I had some bad personal news so I stopped taking lessons (I know I know ha) but ive recently started again with a new instructor im doing okay but my biggest stress and struggle is that she wants my hands at the bottom of the steering wheel like palms to the back if that makes sense and im struggling, I was taught last time the 10 to 2 position which she calls old fashioned, she tells me my steering is awful but I don't physically feel like im in control when my hands are on the bottom, if I move them up she hits my hands down and starts steering with me but the reason my steering is poor is because im not comfortable with this positioning on my hands, is this normal hand positioning these days? Never in my life have I seen someone drive like this, my dad and husband are experienced drivers and say this isnt normal. I find it very hard with confrontation but im starting to dread every lesson because of this steering wheel position, she calls 10 to 2 position a bad habit but I feel like I cant steer safely. 😭 what should I do, she wont budge with it.
