I'm looking to switch from a single speed pump to a variable speed pump. My current setup is a Pentair 1.5hp single speed pump with a Pentair 60 sq ft DE filter. I have a 30,000 gallon free form pool with 2 skimmers, 3 returns and two floor drains in the deep end. The pool equipment is about 25' from the pool and I have 2" lines. I don't have any water features and I live in NY, so the pool is only open for about 4 months out of the year. Should I stick with a 1.5hp VSP, or should I get something bigger?
