Why do most masks have these flaps on them.

i feel like its something very obvious and im just missing it. I really want a good custom mask that is just a regular like head sock and not one with the flaps

Any ideas on how to trim 25th anniversary robe?

The bottom literally goes past my feet even with my big doc martens on. I’m scared to trim it because I’m worried it will be uneven and my robe will be ruined.
