Tried some burgers
So, some of you have seen my previous post from some time ago, I was on a quest to try find some great tasting thick burgers. I'm happy to report I have tried some....and sad to report that I will not be able to do this request to my heart's content. But I wanted to take the time to share the ones I've tried. Originally wrote a long review but realized it was too long. So gonna keep it short and sweet.
Key and Cleaver. Relatively empty on a Saturday. Juicy Burger, would definitely get it again and it raised my bar for a good burger in San Diego since my bar was Slater's 50/50. Bartender was coo enough to give me the Tallow Rosemary Salted Fries on the house. So good. Great experience.
The Balboa close to downtown. To be honest, Key and Cleaver spoiled me but I see that as a good thing. Tasted nearly the exact same to me as Key and Cleaver so prolly would come back at a less busy time say on the weekend. I don't go to this area much so I don't know much. Good food but not my kind of scene. But if you like a busy bar on a Tuesday night, this might be your thing.
Went to Ruth's Chris near Del Mar the week after and tried their burger. To be honest, I went near closing time about 45 min before they closed so can't expect much. Still a decent burger, but will probably try again to get a more accurate rating.
Now for the biggest surprise but those who know know. Rombomburger. $10 burger+tax, an absolute steal. Not a single patty, double patty. You order online and it seems they're open every Wednesday at Kearny Villa. So juicy and tender. And it made me realize these are the businesses that exist and we should give our money to. Two man team at least on the Wednesdays churning out good food at a great price.
As I said earlier, I will have to pause as I have been unemployed for a little bit and am hitting the point where I realize I need to hold up on the spending. But definitely gonna aim to grab a burger from Rombomb hoping every other week since it's still at a good price point I can work with.
Told myself I would get pictures but either forgot or was too hungry after smelling food. Will try next time.
