Need some intermediate - experienced devs that are willing to guide a group of beginner - intermediate programmers!

I’m working on starting an open‑source project where the first goal is to build a platform that supports a beginner‑friendly programming group that is pretty new/in the making - tools, dashboards, and features that help newer devs learn and collaborate.

We already have beginners involved, so I’m specifically looking for intermediate or advanced developers (frontend, backend, or full‑stack) who want to help shape the architecture and guide the early build.

If you enjoy mentoring, structuring projects, or helping newer devs grow, this could be a solid long‑term project. Let me know your main stack if you’re interested. Already have some beginners but everybody is welcome! DM if you are interested!

Safe space to learn and grow for beginner - expert programmers?

Who else is wanting a safe space to collab, create, code, build and learn with other like minded programmers? Forget a language, stack, or goals. Just an all around safe space to do all the above with no expectations? If your looking for this I'm looking for you! Let's start something majestic! I'm 3 years in self taught Python mostly learning heavy Backend Logic.

Let's Come Together!

I’ve noticed a pattern here on ProgrammingBuddies - every couple of days someone (including myself) posts asking for a mentor, looking for other programmers to collaborate with, or hoping to find a beginner friendly community. Each post gets a few comments and then disappears, and the cycle repeats.

So I’m putting out a call to everyone who has made a post like that recently (or wanted to) to come together in one place.

If you’re a beginner looking to learn, an intermediate dev wanting peers to grow with, or an experienced developer interested in teaching or collaborating, drop in here. Instead of scattered one off posts that fade out, we could build an ongoing group of people learning, teaching, and working together.

If you’ve been wanting a mentor, a study buddy, a project partner, or just a consistent community - this is your thread.

Let’s see what we can build together.

My Personal Experience: 3 years, self-taught

Stack: (That I'm currently learning) Python, FastAPI, Asyncio, SQLModel, PostgreSQL, Alembic, Docker

OS: Linux (Pop OS Cosmic) <-- mainly & Windows

Self Taught - Working Towards Becoming Backend Developer

Hey everyone! I’m Maddy - 30 yo male out of U.S. - I’ve been teaching myself programming for about three years now, through online courses and building stuff on my own. I know 0 programmers in real life!! So I’m finally putting myself out there to find people to learn and vibe with and also hopefully get some guidance from someone who’s been in the field for a while.

I’m mainly focused on backend Python development right now. For the last few months I’ve been learning FastAPI and SQLModel and I’m starting to get into async(used it slightly for scraping before), authentication and more backend systems logic. I’ve done web scraping with BeautifulSoup, Playwright and Selenium. I’ve also worked with pandas for data cleaning, built a local file search engine, done some automation and troubleshooted both Linux and Windows. I’ve used virtual machines, virtual environments and I know the basics of Flask, Django, Tkinter and know basic HTML and CSS. I also have a pretty good understanding of OOP.

I’m looking for two things:

  • A mentor - someone with real experience who can help me level up, answer questions, point me in the right direction and help me move towards a career in backend development.
  • Programming buddies / collab partners - people around my level or more experienced who want to build small projects together, share ideas, learn new concepts and frameworks and just have someone to talk code with. I’m tired of learning in a bubble.

If you’re down to mentor, collab, or even just chat. I’d genuinely appreciate it! I’m super dedicated, always learning and I’m trying to connect and grow with fellow programmers. Feel free to reach out or ask me anything!
