hi guys im in mainland china rn and im trying to get tiktok to work on my iphone but im actually going insane 😭
the weirdest thing is that tiktok works perfectly on safari like i can go on tiktok.com see videos profiles etc no problem
but the actual app just says immediately
“No internet connection. Tap to retry. Connect to the internet and try again.”
ive tried SO many things already so pls dont tell me to just check my wifi/internet lol 😭
im using a Singtel eSIM from Singapore and its roaming on China Unicom
my physical chinese sim is completely removed and not active
my Apple account/App Store is France and my iphone region is also France
TikTok has cellular data enabled and location is set to Never
data roaming is ON, 5G auto, China Unicom selected, wifi calling ON and limit IP address tracking is ON
i tested with VPN OFF and my IP was showing as Singapore and tiktok still didnt work
then i tried VPN ON and got another IP which was apparently a datacenter/proxy IP and the website literally said “looks like youre using a proxy” 💀 still didnt work
i also tried manually changing the chinese network, China Broadnet basically had no usable 4G for me so im using China Unicom
i tried offloading tiktok and reinstalling it too because i have drafts and i REALLY dont wanna delete the app completely and lose them 😭 still exactly the same error
i checked the cellular permission, location, App Store region, iphone region etc etc
and again Safari tiktok works perfectly on the SAME phone and same connection
so im wondering if the app is detecting something different from the website maybe the SIM/eSIM country, MCC/MNC, roaming carrier, APN, DNS, IPv6, something with the app itself idk 😭
i also found an eSIM for China that says its IP exit is UK/Norway while the actual network in China is multiple chinese carriers
its 20GB for 30 days and around 45 CHF
i was thinking maybe this could work because the traffic would leave China through a foreign IP but i really dont wanna pay 45 CHF just to find out tiktok still says “no internet” 💀
so has anyone here actually managed to get the TikTok APP working in mainland China on iphone??
especially if you use a foreign SIM roaming or an eSIM which one are you using exactly??
im looking for an actual solution that people have tested not just “use a VPN” because i already tried that and its not working for me 😭
