How to fill holes in decor?

Hi all! I’m currently prepping my enclosure for a cali king (20 more days until I get my snake!), and have some pots for hanging plants I want to use. Unfortunately, they have holes in them, and I don’t want my snake getting stuck/hurt. Does anyone know a good way to block the holes?
Thanks!

I need advice on choosing research opportunities

Hi! First, sorry if this doesn’t belong here, and I’m sure it’s a bit annoying always having posts from first-time researchers, but I really don’t know what to do.

I’m an undergrad in marine biology, and just finished a summer fellowship doing deep sea data analysis. I have the option to continue it in the fall and possibly beyond (paid), and I have my own independent project, and even the possible opportunity to go on a research cruise. I just finished my freshman year, so all of this is very sudden and a bit overwhelming, but I’m very excited.

However, I also have the option to join a different lab, that aligns more with my interests (deep sea microbiology). I wouldn’t be paid, and wouldn’t have my own project, at least to start.

I’m not able to do both, and need help deciding. I could possibly do the second one at a later time, but I don’t want to miss out on opportunities.

I want to pursue grad school, and I know I will need wet lab experience, which the second opportunity will give me, but I know that having an independent research project is also pretty important.

I know this is pretty low stakes, but I don’t know how to make this decision, and it’s really important to me, so I was hoping for advice from people who have already gone through research as an undergrad and have experience.

Thank so much in advance to anyone who responds, your advice is really really appreciated!

Predatory mites?

I have a bioactive with springtails and dairy cow isopods. It’s 120 gal. I recently noticed some mites (red/brown, longer front legs) (picture attached). I was wondering if they could possibly be predatory mites? Springtail pop is fine, isopods are fine. (sorry for the terrible photo)

My tank setup!

No snake in there yet (I get a cali king in the fall)
120 gal from dubia roaches
bioactive with temperature and arid springtails and dairy cow isopods
boston ferns and a variety of mosses and succulents
water bowls are either upside down or empty so my isopods don’t drown
the humidity’s a bit high bc I just watered, but it’s usually 55-70 on the wet side and 35-50 on the dry side (usually around 65 40 though)
temp is typically 72 on the humid side and 75 (night) to 91 (midday) on the dry side
substrate is coconut (chunks and finer soil), calcium free sand, and leaf litter, with hydroballs at the bottom
don’t mind the random cucumbers around, they’re for the isopods (they also have access to rotting wood, leaves, and yeast)

Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for putting stuff for climbing? (preferably stuff that attaches to the ceiling)
And does anyone else have advice in general?
Thanks!
