$1.1M - FIRE Pre Kids?
33YO couple with $1.1M invested, $70k cash, and $3300 in monthly expenses. Without our employer-sponsored healthcare plan, we’re budgeting possibly needing an additional $600 per month for insurance here in the US.
We’re planning on having children in 1-2 years but also have been on our saving push to RE. Obviously children are expensive, but if we’re able to RE and serve as our own child care, we’re wondering if we’re able to go ahead and retire. Curious of this sub’s thoughts with our numbers above! Is it too risky to take the plunge?
ETA: The $600 per month healthcare is a rough estimate from Bronze plans in our area for two. The plans are subsidized, listed at estimates of $350-$450 for us. I added up to $600 to allow for out of pocket costs. We’re fortunate that we’re relatively healthy at this point. I understand a healthcare plan with dependents may be higher.
