So I was digging through my grandfathers garage since I bought their house. Just found these two axes. 1948 chemical axe. And a true temper double bit. I don’t know a ton about axes but my understanding is true temper is really nice to have. I know nothing about chemical axes. What did I just find? Tips on cleaning them up?

Will this last a while yet? I know I have to cut some of the clearly dead branches but if will live on for a while I’ll let it go. Otherwise I was thinking about cutting it down and splitting it for firewood in my wood stove for the winter. Thanks for the help
