I don’t understand why Spurs fans want Mitch Johnson sacked.
First of all, I’d like to wish Billy Donovan every success in his new role. I hope everything goes well for the Spurs, but it seems our fans would rather spout nonsense than be supportive. Some Spurs fans have started making simplistic, shallow comments about Donovan who’s joined the team as an assistant coach such as ‘he’s here to take Mitch’s place’. You’ve really lost the mind.
When talking about a coach who took a team that finished 13th in its first season to second place in the Western Conference and led them to the finals, what on earth does it mean to say, ‘Donovan will take his place’? What do you want, lads? For him to win the NBA championship within three months? Even Jordan only won the title seven years later. Just because Wemby hasn’t shown any success yet, let’s go and sack him too. Mitch is a clever coach; the sort who can make tactical adjustments during a match. It’s very hard to find a coach like that in the NBA. Show the man a bit of respect. As a Spurs fan, I want him to stay with us.
