Just adopted: Polly
We adopted Polly 2 Weeks ago and she is approx. 5 months old. She’s from a shelter and we are her first and forever home. Currently we are focused on learning her name which we made good progress and potty training.
Any advice on getting her potty trained? She lesende to do it whereever she needed to.
She can already sleep through the whole night and we got her in a crate so there are no accidents at night and she usually sleeps through.
But she is easily distracted outside. So she will not always pee or poo when we go outside. Especially in bad weather. And is not a fan of going outside on the leash so far. 😂 a real dachshund I guess.
We take her outside after playing, eating and sleeping or usually around every 2-3 hours during the day. Mostly to the same few spots. And we give her a treat for every business outside.
We removed all carpets 🙃 cause she usually only likes to pee and poo on soggy ground.
I watch her closely but she is still exploring our home and sometimes it’s hard to differentiate the pee sniff from other sniffing. And when I see her doing it inside I just tell her a NO and take her outside.
