Letrozole with progesterone?
Hi everyone,
I am 34 and have had 3 anovulatory cycles in a row according to my OPKs. My OB is starting me on Letrozole because she tested my progesterone levels and it was 0.5, which confirms I did not ovulate (at least in my most recent cycle).
I am concerned at how low my progesterone is and when I looked back on my bloodwork from June 2025 when I got diagnosed with PCOS, my progesterone was also at 0.5 at that time. At that point, I hadn't had a period in over 8 months.
I spoke with my PCP today who told me that with my progesterone being so low (at menopausal levels) that even if I conceive with the Letrozole, my chances of staying pregnant are basically zero.
She is having me start taking progesterone 200mg pills and is instructing me to take them when I get a positive OPK following the Letrozole. She warned me of the side effects of progesterone and that it will feel like first trimester sickness.
Has anyone done this same process of taking Letrozole and then needing progesterone to make sure it sticks?
I would love to hear from anyone who has insight or experience in this area.
