We have a work chat I almost never contribute to but found a relevant article and shared and said “For my once in a blue moon contribution:”. It ended up leading to a talk about movies coming out this summer- everything seemed normal!

Heard a bunch of loud, concerned whispering outside my door and thought something was wrong. Got up to see what the commotion was- walked in on the tail end of a colleuge saying “.. gonna make things all weird and dark” in disgust. The person she was talking to said “Yea well- name of chat owner- does that there anyways”. Then they locked eyes with me, looked panicked and very quickly changed the subject.

I’ve walked by their office on a separate ocassion and heard the same colleuge talking shit about my work before because she didnt like the color I picked out…

This seems silly- but I also have been in situations before where I probably should have said something, didnt, then the other person gets to control the narrative.

I asked to talk with my boss tomorrow… is it the right thing to do? What should I do? Have the feeling this colleuge has been belittling me for some time and worried I’m not getting the same growth opportunities as everyone else since she has a heavy hand in decision making.
