Hi everyone,
I’m writing here because I really need guidance and
I’m hoping someone in this community might have experience or suggestions.
My mother suffered a massive occipital lobe stroke about a year ago, and she was diagnosed with cortical blindness immediately after. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize what was happening until nearly 12 hours after the onset, so the damage turned out to be quite extensive.
Since then, her condition has remained largely the same, but there are a few things I’ve noticed:
She has slight light perception
She can sometimes tell where the light source is coming from, but with difficulty
Most of the time, she needs to be guided toward the light
She cannot perceive colors distinctly
However, she can sense differences in intensity (for example, she can tell that one color is “stronger” or “brighter” than another)
It’s been over a year now, and honestly, it’s been very hard watching her like this. She’s slowly losing hope, and I’m trying my best to find anything at all that could help improve even a small part of her vision.
I’m open to all kinds of options:
Medical treatments or therapies
Neuro-rehabilitation or visual training
Experimental or less common approaches
Even alternative treatments like Ayurveda, if anyone has genuinely seen benefit
If anyone here has gone through something similar, or knows someone who has, I would really appreciate you sharing your experience. Even small improvements or partial recovery stories would mean a lot right now.
I just want to help her regain whatever little vision is still possible.
Thank you for reading. 🙏
