I am a graduate student moving into the dissertation phase and it will require me to do some computational analysis alongside my regular stats stuff. I want a computer that can handle that kind of stuff and could potentially last the next five years. I also hate Apple and want to move away from the Apple ecosystem and will more than likely run Linux most of the time unless absolutely necessary.
