Best ways to remove direct dye

Hi all. I’ve been a stylist for 20 years but I really don’t do a lot of Vivids behind the chair. It’s just not my demographic!

So I have a school aged client who wanted blue hair for the summer. We bleached it and did Arctic Fox blue (I can’t remember exactly which shade) back in May. It’s pretty faded by now but school is starting again and he can’t have “unnatural” hair color. Blonde is fine, though!

So for those of you who do a lot of vivids: how do you remove it once it’s faded? I thought of Malibu C DDL but I believe that works best when it’s fresh color, right? Would it make a difference now that it’s been 8-10 weeks? I’ve also heard from other stylists that you shouldn’t use lightener, but it’s better to use with highlight color or clear with 20 vol. I’d like to avoid bleaching it or bleach bath if I can.

What’s your go to move for your clients? Thanks!

Spacer or no spacer?

Hey all. I’m a 42f and I’ve been diagnosed with asthma since high school. My asthma is well controlled and I only keep a rescue inhaler for emergencies. I don’t need it often but I keep it in my purse at all times just in case.

My doctor didn’t mention it but he prescribed a spacer to use with the inhaler. I’ve never used one before and since it’s so bulky I didn’t get it from the pharmacy.

Obviously I’ll talk to my doctor next time I see him, but I’m curious. For adults with well controlled asthma, are you using a spacer? Do you notice a difference when you do or don’t use it?

Update on Yarnmerch!

Yesterday, I posted about Yarnmerch’s use of super obvious AI after claiming that they design their shirts by hand. Here’s the link if you want to see: https://www.reddit.com/r/craftsnark/s/5IvsYFYkDF

But today! Their grid is FREE of those images! They also deleted my comment calling out the seeming conflict in their message and/or values but hey, AI Bots can’t convince me to love them so whatever.

I still don’t trust their design process but it’s an interesting development nonetheless.

Can we talk about Yarnmerch?

I started following this brand because they have cute and unique crochet/knit related t shirts. In a pinned post they sing their own praises for hand drawing every design but their last three posts are terrible AI slop! I know that small brands struggle to put out quality content but it really muddies the water when your feed doesn’t reflect the values you proclaim. I definitely won’t be buying from them because honestly, who knows if they’re being truthful?

Feeling the symptom but lab work disagrees

Hi all. First up, I’m definitely not looking for a diagnosis here or any medical advice but I am at my wits end and wondering if anyone has been through something similar.

TLDR: I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism but labs come back “normal”. Frustrated & trying to find answers.

For at least the last 20 years, I (42F) have felt off. To be plain I have nearly every single symptom of hypothyroidism. I am always cold. I am always tired. I struggle to lose weight. I lose handfuls of hair. I have very dry skin. That’s just what comes to mind now. I didn’t have a family history of anyone with thyroid issues until recently. My mom’s doctor put her on a small dose of synthroid (don’t know the dosage or which med in particular) because she was complaining of similar symptoms and it’s been a huge help for her! Her labs also don’t show that’s she’s low but the doctor just believed she wasn’t in the right range for herself.

I have had to basically beg for lab work. Just started with a new insurance and a new pcp so I explained everything I’ve felt and we agreed that a full thyroid panel was a good place to start.

All my lab work has come back and I guess he only actually ordered TSH, thyroperoxidase antibody, and thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin. Am I correct that this is not a complete panel?

My numbers all came back in the “normal” range for those three: tsh was 1.6, tpo Ab was <3.0, and tsi was <89.

I’m not trying to get treatment for something I don’t have. But I am absolutely sick and tired of feeling the way I feel and being told it’s okay.

So has anyone else been in the same boat? Is it worth it to push for more testing and/or to see a specialist? If anyone else has experience like this, is there something else that could be producing all these symptoms that isn’t related to the thyroid?

I feel like I need to be an advocate for myself but I don’t know where to go from here.
