Hey everyone,

I'm following Belgian football from overseas, and I've put together a rough media reliability tier list based on what I've seen.

Let me know if this looks accurate, or if I should adjust any of these!

[JOURNALISTS]

Tier 1 (The Kings)

• Sacha Tavolieri: Undisputed Tier 1 for the whole league.
• Kevin Sauvage (Sudinfo): Basically Tier 1 for Standard Liège. Very close to the club.

Tier 1.5 (Club Beat Reporters / Solid Sources)

• Pieter-Jan Calcoen (Het Nieuwsblad): Great for general transfers & club negotiations across JPL.
• Tomas Taecke (HLN): Very reliable for Club Brugge.
• Junior Verbeeke (Het Nieuwsblad): Great for Club Brugge's deals and fee details.
• Valerie Van Avermaet (Het Nieuwsblad): Solid for Club Brugge contracts.
• David Van den Broeck (Het Nieuwsblad): Strong for Royal Antwerp internals.
• Jürgen Geril (Het Nieuwsblad): Very good for RSC Anderlecht updates.
• Tjorven Messiaen (Het Nieuwsblad): Detailed info for Union SG.

Tier 2 (Club Insiders / Good Context)

• Bob Faesen (HLN): Close to KRC Genk (more club-focused than breaking scoops).
• François Garitte (DH): Good for Union SG.

[MEDIA OUTLETS]

Tier 1 (Official & High Accuracy)

• Sporza / VRT: Public broadcaster, highly reliable.
• RTBF Sport: French-speaking public broadcaster, very reliable for Walloon clubs.
• Belga: Official news agency, basically guaranteed accurate.

Tier 1.5 (Mainstream / Good Club Beats)

• Het Nieuwsblad: Great coverage overall, good dedicated club beat reporters.
• HLN (Het Laatste Nieuws): Fast with transfers, good beat reporters.
• DH / Les Sports+: Strong for Walloon clubs & Anderlecht/USG.
• Sudinfo: Great for Standard Liège.
• Gazet van Antwerpen: Solid for Antwerp & Mechelen.
• Het Belang van Limburg: Solid for Genk & STVV.

Tier 3 (Aggregators)

• Walfoot / VoetbalPrimeur.be: Just copy-pasting & aggregating other outlets.

Tier 4 / Trash Tier 🗑️

• VoetbalNieuws & Voetbal24: Pure clickbait machine.
• Voetbalkrant: Recycled garbage.
• 1 Ongefilterd: Complete joke.
• Olivier Deschacht's transfer opinions: Instant ignore.

What do you guys think? Did I miss anyone, or should any of these be moved up/down?

Just joined this sub.

Who are the Tier 1 sources/reporters for Belgian football, and who should I completely ignore?
