Birmingham & Louisville, a Tale of TWO NFL-Less Cities

It's a shame I've gotta pray for Birmingham's downfall today, but it'd be a bigger shame if they made the playoffs over the Kings, especially when considering each's crowds.

I know the the attendance talk is tired, but it wasn't much cooler in Louisville yesterday (humidity was brutal also), yet the Lynn was packed and rockin' from start to finish. The Stallions are a Spring League institution in perhaps the most football-obsessed area of the nation, yet they only majorly showed up this season after Repole's ultimatum and jump ship after one loss against what is/was the top ranked team. Maybe three years from now Louisville won't show out for the Kings after one home loss, let alone three, but I hope they will and Birmingham and other non-NFL markets will as well.

I desperatelv want Birminaham to succeed, not just because I like the team itself (I have many reasons), but because it should be a proof-of-concept of NFL-unrepresented areas aiding an alternative league.

Playoffs or no playoffs this year (if Birmingham can make it at the same time as Louisville. I'm all for it), football fans in Birmingham, Alabama, Mississippi, and many places i the Deep South gotta take ownership of the Stallions and show out for em' next year.

Gamblers Gotta Move

I understand and largely agree for the calls for team location stability, but there are exceptions to every rule, and it benefits no one to keep the Gamblers in Houston.

All teams have been struggling in the past few weeks, but I am convinced that is an anomaly due to factors far beyond the UFL's control; however, what has not been an anomaly is Houston's consistent in ability to produce a single section of their stadium that makes it look like anyone in the nation's 5th (?) largest city gives a damn about their team.

For all of us fighting the good fight and turning on UFL at our family functions and local establishments, games in Houston turns what should be discussion about high-level, year-round gridiron to open mic night. Sumlin's coaching doesn't help ward off jokes either; the last thing a 8 team league is a Cleveland Browns.

I know it's shitty, but this is not a Panthers or Brahmas situation where said fan bases got screwed by stadium availability. What's more, good money is on Houston moving to Austin if they get moved at all, and that's not an unreasonable drive for the genuinely die-hard Gambler fans (I drive the a about the same distance for Kings games). Additionally, Houston has the Texans, Rice, and UoH within their city limits (probably an arena league I'm forgetting too), so, not to be callus, but the Gamblers leaving won't have them as nearly high and dry as other locations.
