Birmingham & Louisville, a Tale of TWO NFL-Less Cities
It's a shame I've gotta pray for Birmingham's downfall today, but it'd be a bigger shame if they made the playoffs over the Kings, especially when considering each's crowds.
I know the the attendance talk is tired, but it wasn't much cooler in Louisville yesterday (humidity was brutal also), yet the Lynn was packed and rockin' from start to finish. The Stallions are a Spring League institution in perhaps the most football-obsessed area of the nation, yet they only majorly showed up this season after Repole's ultimatum and jump ship after one loss against what is/was the top ranked team. Maybe three years from now Louisville won't show out for the Kings after one home loss, let alone three, but I hope they will and Birmingham and other non-NFL markets will as well.
I desperatelv want Birminaham to succeed, not just because I like the team itself (I have many reasons), but because it should be a proof-of-concept of NFL-unrepresented areas aiding an alternative league.
Playoffs or no playoffs this year (if Birmingham can make it at the same time as Louisville. I'm all for it), football fans in Birmingham, Alabama, Mississippi, and many places i the Deep South gotta take ownership of the Stallions and show out for em' next year.
