iPod not being recognized by PC
This is yet another post about having an issue with iPod (5.5gen classic) and Windows 11 PC.
About 1 month ago I was happily syncing music through iTunes. Today when I tried to do the same the PC isn't able to recognize the plugged in device. Same cable, same device, same workflow.
Since then I tried to:
- Re-install the iTunes - both 12.10 release and older releases (from OldVersion.com - these installs couldn't be completed due to getting stuck on some error regarding iPod service or something)
- Uninstall and delete all traces of Apple from my computer (Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, etc.) and reinstall iTunes after
- Stop/started the Apple Mobile Service from services.msc
- Manually uninstall and re-install drivers from the Device Manager (in which there are no traces of anything Apple-related, even though there should be!)
- Changed USB ports many times
- Updated all the drivers possible
- Tried the iPod on a different W11 device (same issue) where the workflow was just fine two months or so ago
- Cleaned both the cable and iPod's cable hole
I am quite lost, sick and tired now and have no idea what to do next. I ordered a new cable even though the current one seems undamaged.
I really don't feel like dropping money on an old Macbook just to sync my music here and there.
If you can point me in any direction, please do so.
