We are about to start digging a 2 acre pond on our farm in NE FL. We dug a couple test holes about 9-10’ deep. Starting at 5’ the material turns to sand/shell. We bought a couple sifters from Amazon and since I’m a numbers guy I measured the sand:shell ratio. It’s about 80:20 which is a lot of shell. There are a significant amount of large clam (up to 6”) and oyster shells as well as a ridiculous amount of sub 1.5” clam shells. I started thinking with all that shell there might be some shark teeth but I haven’t seen a single one. I was even thinking as deep as the material is there would be some Megalodon teeth.

The pictures are not sifted material. Just a couple piles that have been rained on. Am I sifting for nothing or should I keep going and expect to see some? To be fair, we really haven’t sifted much material in regard to total volume.
