Dad of 4 drowning in 3D print requests on random pieces of paper — built my own queue to get it under control

As a father of 4, I love to print — whether it's for friends and family, or just storage for my own desk. But my desk was a mess of paper, sticky notes, and cards with print requests from my kids — no good way to keep track of who wanted what.

So I built a dashboard for myself: a request form my kids fill out with their details, and the request shows up right in my queue — no more digging through sticky notes.

It worked well enough that I'm opening it up to a few other hobbyist printers in the same boat — it's currently invite-only while I work out the kinks, but if that sounds like your shop, I'd love to hear from you: printcue.ink

I built a simple 3D print request queue to replace the scraps of paper on my workbench. Need a few alpha testers.

Hey everyone,

As the title says, I built this to solve a personal headache. My printers are always running, but my biggest bottleneck was my kids. They constantly asked for prints by leaving random scraps of paper on my workbench or yelling requests across the room. Papers vanished, details got forgotten, and I was drowning in disorganized chaos.

I just wanted a dead-simple, centralized way for them to submit a file link and pick from the actual filament colors I have on hand. I couldn't find a lightweight tool that did just that without paying for a massive enterprise print-farm suite, so I built C3DW (Crafted 3D Workshop).

Yes, I used AI to help me bang out the code syntax faster, but I custom-architected the Postgres/Supabase backend myself so it's fully secure. Once it was running, I realized anyone taking custom orders or commissions through Facebook and Instagram DMs faces the exact same mess.

What it does right now:

  • Public Request Page: A clean form where users drop a file link and select directly from your live filament inventory dropdown.
  • Admin Dashboard: A single queue where incoming requests land so you can track statuses and assign priorities.
  • Inventory Manager: A basic page to add/delete your active rolls so the public page only shows what you actually have in stock.

It’s fully deployed live in a sandbox. I'm not selling anything and I don't want your money. I'm just looking for 3 to 5 active shop owners who want to set up their own custom shop handle, try it for free, and give me some brutal, honest feedback on what features are missing.

I've attached a few screenshots of the interface. If you want a tester link to play around with it, drop a comment below and I'll send you a chat message. Cheers!
