Panel Interview

Hello!

I’ve (22f) recently applied to my dream agency. Haven’t applied anywhere else yet due to wanting to go sponsored, and they just opened up apps for 5 days. Anyway, i’ve made it to the next step…have my first interview Monday which is more paper work, and they were very kind in letting me know someone will be in from HR to prep me for the panel interview which I think is amazing. My main “stuck points” are

“Why did you chose this agency”

“Why do you want to be a deputy sheriff”

I have my own reasons of course, which I will share. But i’m really looking for example answers giving depth. I love the leadership of this agency and the Sheriff, as well as growth opportunities in terms of specializations and leadership. Why do I want to be a deputy?, i’ve just had a calling to do it since I was in second grade. I want to serve my community I was raised in. I want nothing more than to have an impact on people during the worst days of their lives, as well as keep my county safe. I want to be part of something bigger than “me”. Not to mention my degree and job currently is not fulfilling.

Any guidance to these answers given and what you all said would be very helpful. As well as any other tips to get through this nerve racking phase! TIA

PAT Tampa PD

Hi all, most departments have a video etc on their PAT test. Tampa is my favored agency and I can’t find specifically the obstacle course listed as part of the test. Can anyone offer what this entails. I’m more so trying to figure out if there is a wall and how tall. I’m at 5 4” female and will need to train this specifically if over 4 feet. Thank you.

PSA: I know on the website it lists what the PAT will include, but it just says “obstacle course” along with run dry fire dummy drag.

Tampa vs Pasco FL

Hi all, i’m applying in october and having a tough time deciding on Pasco county sheriffs or Tampa PD. Anyone in here work for one or both and can offer insight? I’ve done a ride along with Tampa and have one with Pasco soon. Big difference is pay, safety, and shifts. How have you all liked 4 on 4 off versus a 2 on 3 off 2 off 3 on kind of schedule? Tampa takes a lot of money for pension i’ve heard. As well as Tampa being heavily staffed so there’s always multiple officers on scene rather than waiting a bit longer in Pasco so i’ve heard. I’m a female.

Any insight and advice is appreciated.
