Question for new guys, why did you get in the business?

Not trying to throw shade at all, but I am genuinely curious. As a 20 year veteran who has sold my business and retired, and now re-entered the industry, I’m genuinely curious about the massive influx of newcomers.

What made you decide to get into the pressure washing business? Was it social media videos of people talking about how great the money is and how easy it is to start a business? Was it because you did your own house and figured this is a job you could do professionally?

I’m just curious about what has caused the explosion of newcomers. With as many basic questions as we see and people‘s inability to generate business obviously there’s some kind of disconnect happening here.

Three possibilities:

  1. There’s a lot of people getting into business who probably shouldn’t be into business.
  2. building a business actually takes a pretty decent amount of time. You will not have overnight success and people are just impatient.
  3. the influencers you’re watching are full of crap and are just selling you a bill of goods. I’m actually leaning towards this one, as I know a lot of the influencers out there personally and frankly, they’ve not built successful businesses… They have built successful social media channels.

Again, not being judgmental at all or trying to throw shade. I’m just genuinely curious…
