Fascism is literally an Italian word! More Allied soldiers died in Italy than France! They were one of the earliest and most enthusiastic allies of the Nazis.

But compared to the endless jokes about Germany and Japan all the stereotypes about Italy are positive "it's-a me Mario" and spaghetti and romantic Venice. Even France probably gets more shit for collaborating than Italy does for being an actual Axis power.

I understand they didn't actually contribute much to the fighting and surrendered really fast. But "we were so bad at war that we actually didn’t help out the bad guys very much" is not a good excuse
