Learning to drive stick has been a bucket list item for many years now. I'm in Italy and the company got me a rental and I asked for the manual. Had THE WORST drive in my life leaving the rental car and heading to the parking garage. Stall, stall, stall. Waving everybody to go by. Friendly citizen told me I should take the car back and get an auto because it wasn't safe ... he wasn't wrong.
Eventually make it to the garage and I've been basically doing laps around the parking garage each night. But JFC, I'm stalling like crazy. I've got to get it going 20 kph (12mph or so) before I can let the foot off the clutch all the way. And those ramps?! they're just brutal. I'm watching all the videos, texting all my friends that drive stick. I'm trying to do what they tell me but it just isn't working.
Well shit ... I was doing all of this in 3rd gear ... glad it's a rental! It's a lot easier when you can start in 1st, just sayin'.
