What's my ceiling?
I'm trying to replace/update some lights in an add-on workshop, and have no idea what's above this ceiling or how to access it non-destructively. The add on was probably 20 years ago, thin-walled with studs, and attached to a primary brick structure. The roof above is slightly sloped flat top coated in elastomeric. It doesn't seem like drop ceiling, but I can't figure it out.
I'm worried that the layers here are light-ceiling-romex-roof with only an inch or two gap, and that I might either pull the ceiling down or damage the under-roof if I explore much here.
Any idea how to go about accessing the area above the lights to perhaps add different and additional wiring and light fixtures? Any idea how the visible ceiling is structured and supported?
