What are examples of more fictional characters like House?

Currently watching the show for the first time, I'm at season 6 and I'm loving it thus far. I was wondering if any of you can think of any examples of characters with a conflict similar to House?

Of course I know the tortured genius is an entire trope with many characters that fit a similar criteria (heck, House himself reminds me a lot to The Doctor from Doctor Who), but I was specifically wondering if there are any other characters with the same conflict House has of obsessing with puzzles and mysteries?

Not only being really determined to solve mysteries, but basically being his main drive as a person, becoming a huge way for him to connect with both his job and other people. To the point it becomes dehumanizing, treating anyone as a puzzle that needs to be solved and himself as the detective forced to take any case he encounters in life. Going beyond trying to solve illness, it gets to a point he tries to solve the mystery beyond people's emotional conflicts, because for him, everything must have a logical answer and reason.

I know House is meant to be a pseudo adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, does Sherlock have a similar conflict? Is this a common trope in detective stories? I would like to know of any other characters with similar traits. Not only from tv shows but any medium. Anime, books, movies, comics, etc.
