Back to the future - Nostalgia !

Hi guys, just for sharing this amazing moment. My wife doesn't get it - as much of our wifes ! 🤣

A 500 AT&T rotary phone... probably about 50 years old, connected via a Grandstream HT802 V2 on my Asterix FreePbx... I was a very little kids when i played with that for the last time at my grands parents house....

this mecanical ringing gives me a lot of nostalgia and joy. Just want to share that with you guys !

It mades me realize the Pc with i7 that hosting my pbx is much more powerfull than the entire building who used to host mechanical routing equipment designed originally for this telephone back then... 😊

Montreal SIP Trunk.

Hello folks,

I’m playing around with a homemade FreePBX server paired with 8 Cisco 3PCC phones (8841 and 8865) and I’m looking for SIP trunk recommendations for Montréal for something like 5 or 6 channels.

I’m running dual WAN 1) Bell Fibe (8G/8G) which is stuck behind their crappy Giga Hub with no bridge mode (F word Bell ) and 2) Videotron (1.5Gb/50Mb, bridge mode).

Both are on a UDM Pro Max with a few Ubiquiti PoE switches on a 10Gb backbone. I know I could ditch the Bell junk side by trading the UDM Pro Max for a UCG Fiber with XGS-PON, but I want to get the whole setup working before crying over another 1k$. (wife won't be happy with this one 🤣!!!)

I need something with good support since this setup will serve both personal and professional use (working from home). Good reliability and good support are more important to me than very cheap pricing.

To be honest, I’m relatively new to VoIP, my last gig was on a Nortel Meridian 🤣 which probably dates me more than I’d like to admit…

Any recommendations ? . Thanks!
