Hey Everyone,
I'm new to Bangalore and wanted to ask if there are folks up for trekking once a month to nearby available spots.
We can plan and go for it.

Hey folks,
I landed in Bangalore for the first time on May 1st and I’m still trying to figure out how transport works here. Not sure if I got unlucky or if this is just normal, so wanted to sanity-check with you all.
Incident 1 (Airport ride):
Took a taxi from the airport to Sarjapur Main Road. Total came to ₹4,000 — breakdown was ₹2.5k base, ₹200 toll, and ₹1.3k surge (as shown in the app). Felt… steep, but I let it go thinking maybe airport pricing is just like that here.
Incident 2 (Uber ride):
Booked an Uber (14 km, fare showed ₹238). Driver calls and says Uber is underpaying him, so I’ll need to pay extra. He recalculates: ₹18/km → ₹252, plus ₹15 because he drove 1 km to pick me up.
At that point I just paid wasn’t in the mood to argue and honestly didn’t know what the “correct” expectation is here.
So yeah, just trying to understand:
- Is this kind of thing common in Bangalore?
- Do people usually push back in these situations or just go along with it?
- What’s the most reliable way to get around without these awkward negotiations?
I’m actually really enjoying the city so far, just want to figure out how to travel without constantly second-guessing fares.
Would love to hear how locals or frequent visitors deal with this 🙏
