We finally got rain, and lower temps. So happy!
Now if I could just get the Japanese beetles out, that'd be perfect.
Michigan has had some absolute crapshoot weather as of late. I think today was our first day of rain in about 5 weeks. My pumpkins were looking really sad!
Tonight's harvest.
Too many to name, but some included are:
Peaches and cream
Coralie
My love
Mr optimist
Gitts attention
And also lisianthus and marigolds. And a boatload of zinnias.
Greeting from Michigan. Aka "bagland"
Treating with molasses every few weeks and surprisingly it's working really well. I've only seen a dozen or so this entire week. They also might be mad I'm diligent with bagging buds.
The other slides are my "back bit" which is just where I tossed all my leftover tubers because i couldn't bring myself to toss them and I gave so many away still. These I did not treat with anything at all. They're my sacrificial plants 🤣
The flower garden has erupted with blooms.
Pictured: lisianthus, marigolds, and dahlias.
All I'm waiting on is sunflowers to bloom and then I can open my stand for the season. SO EXCITED!
First cuts from the garden. (No ids, sorry!)
All these were mystery tubers I accumulated through various sales this winter haha
This week it'll be triple digit and I'm hoping they don't stress out on me.
It's planted. It's growing. I'm happy!

Everything looks really good. Thankfully the rain is taking breaks instead of flooding the field like the last 2 years.

Weeds are under control thanks to some pre emergent so hopefully I won't have to be out there in the heat much at all this summer.
Felt like everything slowed down on growth. Until I compared side by side.
Oh, and we also finally got rain after 3 weeks of burn bans, drought conditions, and a neverending task of watering at least once a day. Thanks, Michigan.
My sunflowers are running laps around everything in beds but I know another few weeks and it'll be completely grown in and looking amazing.
I Voted sticker contest is live! (a few Saginaw contenders in it!)
michigan.govZone 6b, I am fully planted... In this space. 😬
I think I got it right this year. We added 4 more beds from the 8 we had last year. Planning to put crushed concrete in sometime in the future.
There is a LOT in here.
* 4 12ft beds of dahlias
* 4 8ft beds of dahlias
* 1 12ft and 1 8ft bed of zinnias
* Sage, rosemary, lavender
* Peonies
* 3 climbing roses
* 2 hydrangea
* 3 tea roses
* 3 astilbe
* 2/3 bed lisianthus
* 2/3 bed marigolds
I think that's all.
I'm so ready for lush garden beds.
Next on the agenda is a whole lot of corn, pumpkins, and sunflowers.
They're going to be comfy for the next few days until these lows get above 37.
I fully planned on this, which is why I have those nifty u posts with cotton swabs on top to drape the cloth. (Not plastic, thankfully!)
Also, 0/10 do not recommend doing this by yourself on a VERY windy day. But, had my husband helped, we'd probably be divorced 🤣
