Sun Pharma Q4: Profit up 26% YoY! How should traders look at it?
Sun Pharma’s Q4 FY26 numbers were strong on paper:
- Profit up 26% YoY to around ₹2,700+ crore
- Revenue up about 13% YoY
- Final dividend of ₹5, taking total FY26 dividend to ₹16/share (same as last year)
At the same time, profit and revenue fell quarter‑on‑quarter, and the stock actually closed lower on the result day, which tells you a lot of good news was already priced in and the market is now digesting the move.
How I look at it as a trader
- Big picture still strong India business is growing double‑digit and margins for the full year have improved.
- A stock falling on good results often means....valuations were rich, short‑term traders are booking profits, market wants to see how numbers trend over the next 1–2 quarters.
Ways to approach it
If you’re a short‑term trader, wait for the price to settle after the first 1–2 days of volatility.
If you’re a positional / swing trader, treat Sun Pharma as a buy‑on‑correction candidate, not a stock to chase after a gap‑up. Build positions slowly on dips instead of going all‑in at once.
