Patellar luxations after MPFL reconstruction?
It's been precisely a week since my surgery where they reattached a 4cm² torn piece of cartilage and gave me a new MPFL. Pain has been manageable with the heavy medication I was assigned and I've been able to move and put weight on the knee (don't have a brace, some talk about a recent study proving those useless).
On Saturday I took a small stumble, my injured leg caught. It maybe twisted just slightly and it felt exactly as it does when the patella dislocates, just no pain. Then on Sunday it happened again when I was taking my shoes off and turned just a little on my injured leg.
Is my patella supposed to be able to slide out of place like that and did it even actually luxate? I felt that exact same sense of wrongness when it happened both times but shouldn't my new MPFL prevent that from happening? Obviously there's a lot of swelling that may help explain things but I don't know.
