I really like this guy, like genuinely a lot, but his teeth are throwing me off so badly and I feel awful for even saying that.

He has these brown deposits/stains on his teeth, and his breath smells bad too. I keep wondering why. Is that something genetic? Or is it usually from smoking, coffee, bad dental hygiene, fear of the dentist, money problems, or untreated dental issues?

I know it doesn’t automatically mean someone is dirty or doesn’t care, and I know some people are genuinely embarrassed or avoid dentists because of anxiety. Sometimes people probably don’t even realize how bad their breath is.

But at the same time… it’s such a turn-off for me and I feel guilty because I really do like him otherwise.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Is this usually fixable, or is it more of a long-term issue?
