Visa Renewal, Recently Contracted Syphilis.

Hi everyone! So I'm basically posting the title. I have been working in China for a year and I contracted syphilis while being here. I took my medical exam today for the renewal of my visa and was pretty shocked to get the results.

I tested low at 1:4 and plan to get treatment for it tommorrow. I have read many threads on here about people with treated syphilis that still got their residency approved after providing documentation of treatment. I am just wondering how to not freak out my employer during this time because I know that is the largest probable barrier to entry right now.

I have already signed a contract with this university in Chongqing and I am looking for any advice or similar experiences.

Question About the Recruiting Cycle

Hi everyone! I am an American finishing out my first year working in China and I wanted others' opinions: is it okay to continue looking at job opportunities after you sign a contract?

To be specific, I am a university Primary School English teacher in central China and I recently signed with a different university in a much larger city because I still have no idea if my current university is planning on renewing my contract (they previously told us that they hired too many foreigners this year). I know the job market isn't very good for people in my profession at the moment so I was pretty eager to sign right away; the schools here also pressure you to sign immediately after an interview. I still haven't started the visa-transfer process with this school yet.

A different recruiter just reached out to me today about interviewing for a much better job at a university in an tier-1 city, which would be ideal for me. Is it okay/expected that I continue looking for job oppurtunities after signing a contract?

Some of my foreign coworkers that have been here much longer than me have said that this is normal and I shouldn't worry about potentially signing with a different employer if the offer is better, but the American in me is saying that I should only stick with the employer I already signed with. Are contracts in China legally binding even if there is no stipulation that there is a penalty for pulling out?

To clarify, I also still haven't received a signed version of the contract on their end. All thoughts and opinions are appreciated.
