Asking boss about cilex route

I work for a law firm and my boss is really nice about career progression (I'm currently a paralegal). I have tried SQE1 twice and failed marginally twice, I just feel defeated by it and don't think it plays to my strengths at all and from what I see CILEX is more coursework/ not SBAQ based. I have a masters in legal practice so hoping I can be exempt for a few modules if I do the CGQ route.

I was just wondering if anyone has any stories of them asking their boss if they'd be supported switching from SRA route and working towards becoming a CILEX lawyer. I'm just a bit concerned it won't be supported as no one else in the team is CILEX qualified.
