Worth it for minor ish/moderate correction?

Worth it for minor ish/moderate correction?

Soooo…. I got braces from 4th-6th grade. Most of my life people have complimented me on my smile. I think it was often the energy behind it, but I liked my smile.

Then life happened, DV, health issues, poverty. I needed dental work I couldn’t afford, issues got worse and I got some teeth pulled. Then I broke my retainer (which I’d been wearing at night for almost 20 years).

And then I just watched as my teeth slowly started to space apart and turn…..

My daughter who is 12 is just about to get her braces off. And I decided to ask her orthodontist for a consult to see how much it would cost to get new retainers and if I did want to fix my teeth, the cost and possibilities.

Total cost would be $4000 for Invisalign. I don’t even care about the bottom teeth, but they said the difference would only be a few hundred dollars and after I’d have the retainer so they don’t shift more. No jnterest and a 2 year payment plan, since both my kids go there, no credit is involved. Only $500 down. The plan is within my budget and they said 6 months (although who knows if it would be more).

I’m struggling with the idea of it. With the choice. My smile is nice. It’s not bad. It just doesn’t feel like me and when I see it, it kind of reminds me of the stuff I went through and makes me a little sad. I’ve noticed I’ve stopped smiling with my teeth as much, especially in photos.

I just… i feel like my teeth aren’t that bad and it’s a lot of money. And i don’t know the emotional experience of having them on. Although…. If they could give me my old smile back, it would be worth it….

Would love to know your experiences. And does 6 months always turn into more?

**couldn’t figure out how to add another photo of my old teeth, so just added the iCloud link. I tell myself it wasn’t a huge difference. But it kind of was.
