I found out a few months ago that I have a mild bulge at my L4 and another at L5/S1 which happens to be ever so slightly touching my S1 nerve roots. My main complaint that initially brought me in to get an MRI of my lumbar spine was some consistent pain in my feet and some pain in my lower back, but that was it.
Fast forward to a month ago and I’ve started to get more consistent pain in my R calf intermittently. Now the last few days it’s been in my R hamstring really badly. I’ve been doing some PT exercises from the Makenzie method including the cobra and adding a dead hang after my gym workouts. I’ve completely cut out leg press and any sort of seated hamstring curl exercise. I only stopped that a few weeks back though.
For avid gym goers, what did you have to modify to help with the pain? And has the pain been able to completely subside? My physical therapist told me it takes anywhere from 2-6 months for most bulges to heal. I’m just beside myself and could really use some positive stories about healing naturally/interventions used.
