Would you prefer accepting an offer from a product-based company even if the compensation is the same, but the benefits and overall opportunities are better?

I currently work for a desi services company in Dallas. The salary would remain about the same, but the product company would require relocation to Austin. I own a house here, and my child is in high school, though he is not doing very well academically. One of the main reasons we are considering moving is the hope that a new environment and better opportunities might help.

At the same time, I understand that relocating and starting over in a new city comes with a lot of hassle and adjustments.

Given current situation on h1, being full time with client company is less risky i guess but then layoff is another thing. what you guys suggest?

Is anyone here commuting weekly from Dallas to Austin for work? How feasible has it been for you?

I’m considering starting a role in Austin and planning to work onsite Monday–Wednesday, then drive back Wednesday night. I would likely stay in an Airbnb or budget hotel during those two nights (around $50/night).

The company is not covering commute or lodging since the position is based in Austin.

Do you think this setup is realistically doable for at least a year while I figure out whether the role and long-term move make sense?
