I vaguely remember some details of this book. I'm actually trying to recall a few of these books, but I'm starting with this one. I used to really enjoy reading romance when I was much younger. But now I almost exclusively read non-fiction and want to get back into something light and fun.

The book definitely had smut, but also had a lot of action. Set in the Louisiana bayou. The main female character might be a journalist chasing a story related to a crime. The main male character is a mercenary (possibly former military) of some kind that protects her. He's a local she's not. The story takes place over the course a few days. The book really leans into all of the clichés and tropes of the romance genre.
